Electronic book readers can store hundreds even thousands of books in their memory depending on which device you get.  With such a library at your fingertips the benefits are great.  Storing so many books in one small device definitely gets rid of the space problem at home, in your office, and in your bag.  The Kindle and Kindle 2 both offer wireless internet access right from the device so the user is able to go to the ebook store online, purchase a book, and r ead it in just seconds!  How much easier is that than going to the bookstore only to find out they have just sold out of the book you are looking for.  Bummer.  With such ease in buying and retrieving books and storing them all in one place people may find that the electronic book reader saves them time, money, and space which so many of us battle everyday to find.

Not only are the electronic book readers allowing such ease in getting and storing books but are allowing greater portability of books than one could have ever imagined.  Remember trying to go to a full day of college classes, balancing books in your hands and in your back bag while attempting to grab a quick snack in between classes.  Now think if you  had an electronic book reader back then.  You could have stored your books into your reader and would only have to worry about remembering to put the tiny thing in your bag before you left class.  What a breeze!  I can definitely say I would have rather had that worry.  However, this isn’t just a convenience for students but for everyday people as well.  People have the ability to retrieve newspapers and even some magazines right to their electronic book reader.  Now you can read your favorite articles without carrying bulky and messy newspapers.  Also, for avid book readers they can carry numerous books with them at once, especially for those long business trips or relaxing vacation.  Instead of trying to pack a few books or buy some books and your destination and then leave them behind, you can have them all in one small device and carrying them anywhere.

Some of the electronic book readers have also made it easier for people to mark or highlight their books without actually ruining them.  No more post-it notes decorating the pages.  Instead you are able to write in the side column, much like some would do with their paper books, or highlight important words right from your electronic book reader.  Some of these readers even have the feature to email your notes out so you can share them or transfer them easily to your home computer. 

Other random features that are proving to be valuable to consumers is text magnification, audio, easy to read display screen, and of course they do have accessories.  The text magnification allows older adults with poor eyesight the opportunity to enjoy reading without having to attempt to find large print books and they are very user friendly that any senior citizen, even those without computer knowledge, can operate the electronic book reader.  Just like an IPod the user only needs to know how to hit the play button or in this case the Turn Page button.  The audio feature lets the electronic book reader read to you.  This is convenient for those that want to enjoy a book without staring at the screen, for a group of listeners, or for children to enjoy.  The easy to read display is definitely a benefit for those that have experienced eye problems from staring at a computer screen all day.  The screen is not that same as a computer and allows the user to change the screen’s appearance to their liking.  And last but not least are the accessories.  Just like any other electronic device bags or covers for the readers are available that help store, protect, and transport the device safely.

Now with all these great features and amazing possibilities it is no wonder that many are stating that the electronic book readers truly could become the next digital craze since the IPod and IPhone.  I believe myself that in the future these devices will be mainstream technology and we may even see the possibility of elementary students carrying these to school instead of the traditional book bags full of heavy books.

New Larger Screen Kindle DX answers customer criticism with a new screen that measures 9.7 inch diagonally, whereas the Sony PRS 700 only has a 6 inch display. The Kindle DX also has an auto-rotating screen that automatically rotates, from portrait to landscape, as you rotate the screen, another improvement over previous models.

Built-in PDF Reader The PDF reader allows the user to download documents to the Kindle DX, eliminating the need to carry around extra papers and with Kindel’s whispernet technology you can download your documents to the Kindle DX without the use of a usb cable. This means you can email information directly to your Kindle DX.

Larger Library Capacity The new DX will hold up to 3,500 books where the Kindle 2 held up to 1,500 books, and Sony PRS 700 a measly 320 digital books. The Sony does include a memory card so you can have additional books as long as you buy more memory cards. Although this is not convenient for the on the go person or someone who would like to have numerous downloads, books, newspapers, etc accessible all at once.

Features of the Kindle DX that are original features of the previous Kindles are the whispersync technology, slim design; being just over 1/3 inch profile, long battery life, read-to-me feature, built in dictionary, access to Wikipedia, bookmarking and annotation additions, adjustable text size; for those who require larger print, E-ink technology to create a paper like display, and of course access to the largest ebook store, featuring 275,000 books, 60,000 audio books, and the top newspapers, magazines, and blogs.

For those of you that are not familiar with whispersync technology, it is a wireless internet service for Kindle users to access the Kindle Book Store and receive their new ebooks on their Kindle in just seconds anywhere in the world. Since the internet service uses the same signals as cell phones; anywhere you receive cellular signal you can search, buy, and receive your ebooks. First, though, let’s review the fundamentals. As you perhaps know, many books and other materials have gone into the public domain (fallen out of copyright) and may be republished, in any format, by anyone who desires to do so. In the U.S. most works published through the year 1923 are now considered to be public domain (“PD”).

If you locate a PD book you think others would pay for if it were republished, you could reprint it as a physical book and sell copies through eBay, Amazon or your own web site. Some enterprising individuals have done exactly this with old correspondence courses and other non-fiction, how-to type materials from years past.

Or, you could repackage your PD find as an e-book and make it available for downloading, for a price. This is probably the more common way that people are bringing in money at this time from the public domain.  Once again, non-fiction, how-to and self-improvement are the most in-demand subjects.

Now here’s the twist I mentioned.  The method I prefer is to make PD books freely available on the web, and place advertising on their pages. Strictly speaking, then, you are selling ad space, not the book itself.

A few years a guy named Steve Smith heard about an odd book from 1892 that combined a time-travel tale with a story about golf. Its title was Golf In the Year 2000.

Afer a bit of looking, he was able to find a copy of the book for just $10. He scanned the pages, converted them with OCR software, and posted the whole book to a website he had registered specifically for that purpose.

Then he took it the next step. On his web pages, he surrounded the text of the book with Google AdSense and affiliate merchant ads. He then made money when visitors clicked on the AdSense ads or purchased stuff through the affiliate links. By the way, if you’re curious you can view his site at www.golf-in-the-year-2000.com.

Steve’s online edition of Golf In the Year 2000 attracts a steady flow of golf devotees, science fiction fans, Victorian literature lovers and the simply curious, he says. And the ads on his pages bring him money!

Certainly, it’s an idea that could be copied by others. Public-domain sources are abundant nowadays.  You might be able to find a suitable book in one of the many web-based PD repositories, preferably one that not many other people have discovered yet.

One good thing with this idea is that the book you showcase (and use to earn ad revenue) need not be restricted to non-fiction or how-to.As with Mr. Smith’s strange little science fictional golf gem, it can simply be something that will bring users to your site, for the novelty if nothing else.

You could also look in used-book stores to try to find something rare enough not to have made it to the Internet at all.  In that case you will probably need to buy a scanner and some OCR software to get the text into your computer.

Public domain publishing is truly a potentially lucrative field.  And, how you “repurpose” your PD finds is entirely up to you.  That’s what makes it so fun, as well as profitable.

Here are five ways you can make money with PLR ebooks.

Make your own CD or DVD and sell them on eBay. If you visit ebay right now, you’ll see a few CD’s full of hundreds of ebooks on a variety of subjects. You can do the same. Heck, you can even buy the ones on ebay, copy them (if they’re Private Label), then add the ones from your list and resell them. You can also sell these on Craigslist and classified sites like Kijiji or U.S. Free Ads.

Find someone to rewrite them for you. If you’re good enough, you could do this yourself and get a website to sell the ebooks. Then you can start promoting your New ebook! Another strategy is to get traffic to the website and once it starts making a little bit of money, sell the rights to the ebook along with the website. Don’t overlook the niche of buyers who are looking to buy web sites that are already making money.

Let people download them as a bonus to your other offers. Newbies like lots of free bonuses. It’s no secret that many times people buy a information product off the Internet because they want the bonus more than the product or service that is being sold. Use your PLR ebooks as bonuses to promote your products and watch the sales skyrocket.

Another excellent strategy is to build yourself an email list with them. Everyone knows the power of an email list. Offer your Private Label ebooks free to your website visitors for just for signing up to your newsletter. Free stuff sells. This is one way that many of the how to money Guru’s build massive contact list. They just give really cool ebooks away in exchange for a name and email address! Once you have an email list built up, you can then push products and services to them.

Get rid of them quick! How do you make money that way you ask? Place your affiliate links into the Private Label ebooks. Just read through the ebook and anywhere you find a keyword or keyword phrase where you can put an affiliate link, do it! Excellent places to give these away are Social Media sites and even on your website if you have one. Get a bunch of these out there and watch your income from affiliate commissions go ballistic!

I bet you can do at least one, if not more of these tactics. Excellent and easy ways to make money online with ebooks. Don’t forget to stay focused and get as many of your Private Label ebooks into the homes of people who will buy stiff from you!

3. E-books are a way to sell products other than the one you originally targeted. For instance, if you are selling jewelry then your targeted audience could also be interested in perfume, shoes or even handbags.

4. E-books can help you to substantially build up your reputation too. It is an implied recommendation if you give quality E-books and users willingly pass it on to others.
