List Building – Buying a List For Online Marketing
February 1st, 2010Venturing out into the online world is a daunting task if you don’t have a list. However, if you have the budget and opt to purchase your list rather than taking weeks, months or years to establish a strong following, beware!
It is not recommended that you purchase a list from a list broker to use in your email marketing. I’d only recommend it if you are doing offline marketing, but online email marketing is a definite no no. The only way an email can be legitimate is if the person receiving the email opts in. If your list broker says they can offer you double opt-in, it’s a lie. The only way for a person to have access to double opt-in is if they themselves opt-in and subscribe to the list in the first place. And the only way they can do this is on their own! Somebody else can not opt-in for them. They have to opt-in themselves.
Why you NEED a List
If you are serious about trying to make money online you NEED to get an email list. Think about it a moment, why do people tell you the money is in the list?
Because a list is a list of people who have given you permission to send them information about things you are selling.
Builds Open Channels of Communication
Being able to freely contact your list allows you to keep them inform on matters that would interest them. This also gives you the chase to share other ‘random’ types of content that could be helpful to them further aiding your relationship building efforts.
Builds a Marketing Platform
The communication ‘platform’ that is now created between you and your customers can also be use to promote other products of yours that they may have an interest in. This approach is very effective provided you don’t abuse it by being way too ‘frequent’ with your promotions. This can easily encourage list members to opt out of your list.
Builds Multiple Streams of Income
With the trust you have built up with your customers it makes it easier to promote the products of others. Their trust in you will give your recommendations more influence over their leading to additional sales. Once again DO NOT abuse this trust!
The value of a squeeze page to the long term growth of any business marketing on the internet is indisputable. A trade-off so to speak is evident in the process however since site visitors are not shown a sales page UNLESS they leave their contact information. Due to this it is understandable that a start up entrepreneur would be reluctant to use squeeze pages and miss a sale. The above review does reveal 5 undeniable benefits these pages do offer whether you are just starting an online business or operating an already established one.
