The 5 Most Important Aspects Of Website SEO
February 28th, 2009For the beginning Webmaster, SEO is a complete mystery. As a Dallas SEO it’s my belief that a lot of this is due to all the B.S. taught by a lot of SEO companies and individuals. For some, this is because they don’t know any better while some others do it to justify the ongoing fees they charge their Clients. SEO is not brain surgery peeps. It’s as simple as following a few instructions each time you build a website.
To start with, one should make sure that the main keywords are part of the web address if at all possible. When all things are equal, a Website with your keywords in the address will outrank one without the keywords included in the domain name.
Next, the keyword or keyword phrase should be included in the Name of your Website. By doing this, you’re helping search engines like MSN come to a conclusion as to what the subject of your Website is.
You should also use keywords in the Title of each page or article on your site, or at least, some parts of a keyword phrase should be in the page Title. This too helps the search engines come to a conclusion as to what the subject of the page is, what it’s about and how relevant it is to the search term being searched for. Plus, the website should be coded in such a manner as to include the Title of each page in a H1 tag. There should only be one H1 tag per page for the best results. Search engines give a great deal of value to the H1 tag and it’s important that your Page Title’s be inside H1 tags. If your Houston web designer does not know how this is done, find one that does.
Now that you have those three things out of the way, it’s crucial that the keywords you want to rank for show up within the page itself. For best results, you should place the main keyword of the page somewhere in the first paragraph and once or twice more in the article somewhere, especially near the end of the page. A few more times between the first and last paragraph is also a good idea, in summary, just make sure you use them in the beginning and end.
Last up, probably the most important thing of SE Optimization actually takes place off the page. In fact, it takes place off the site altogether. In my opinion, the most important thing in getting higher ranks for a Website is backlinks pointing to your site. And it’s not enough to just get backlinks, these backlinks need to have your keywords as the Anchor text of the backlinks.
How important are backward links? Well, I can rank a website that doesn’t have the keywords in the domain, one that doesn’t have keywords in the Website Title, Page Title and in the Content (although it’s much, much harder to do), but without anchored links back to your site going to your web page, {it’s impossible} to to get higher rankings in the search engines for any terms that are the least bit in demand.
